McTaggart Residence, Peregian Beach

MULTI AWARD WINNING ARCHITECTS with BENCH MARK environmental design. Sparks Architects are a leading architectural practice producing super sensitive environmentally sustainable buildings. The firm has one a multitude of awards; with Principal Dan Sparks being well respected amongst his peers. This home required the expertise of (6) Master carpenters to construct the furniture like exposed timber framing, complex roof angles and installation of large glass panels. Only the highest level of AC design would suffice for this project.

AC Challenges:

  • No visibly exposed air grilles in the living room as all of its walls were full glass height. To achieve this ARKFIELD provided an ingenious design; though complex it provided a seamless finish. The design incorporated AC vents in the finished marine ply ceiling panels utilising the black shadow lines as air vents. This blew the architect’s mind of achieving the result they wanted, but thought that it was never possible.

AC Features:

  • Customised architectural air vents.

AC Complexities:

  • Strict bi-laws for sound plant and equipment
  • Complex air diffusion design and installation.
  • Extensive Airconditioning pipework and systems.
  • Duct design

Project Overview:

  • Architects: Sparks Architects
  • Consultants: ARKIFIELD in house design
  • Location: Peregian Beach, QLD.
  • System: 2 x VRV Airconditioning systems, architectural and customised Airgrilles
